Review; Moonman Wancai Mini, Fine nib

When this seller reached out and asked me to review this pen in this color, I asked if I could review the transparent model instead. That would have been a mistake! I was not prepared for how beautiful this pen is in person! With its flowing light ribbons floating in nearly clear translucent green space, even before you ink it up with your favorite hue, this pen really takes your breath away. Add some ink into the mix and now those ribbons really show off their true depth!

But this pen isn’t all show and no go...The gold-tone 0.5 Fine iridium-point nib is surprisingly smooth and glides on the paper like a fine Medium, though leaving a much finer line. A little line variation is possible and there is just a hint of feedback without any scratchiness at all.

The pen is slightly thicker than all but the thickest pens and capped it is extremely short and portable, but that is the point. Unscrew the cap, screw it back on the end, and you have a nearly perfect sized, light and nicely balanced writing instrument. The section is narrow to medium in width and short to medium in length, with a noticeable step from the barrel. But it’s comfortable to my hands with the nib being the perfect size to provide the perfect throw from the surface of the paper.

This pen comes in a nice gift box with a 6-pack of black universal standard ink cartridges as well as eyedroppers for filling the pen in that fashion. I recommend the later. The barrel-section joint has several fine threads and a clear o-ring, just what you want for eyedroppering a demonstrator pen, and I added a touch of clear silicone grease to mine for good measure.

In all, you get a beautiful, portable semi-translucent demonstrator with a surprisingly good nib, complete with a gift set that would make a great gift!

Highly recommended, 5 stars.
